Former UK Prime Minister
Col 7x4" photo Born 29th March 1943. First entered Parliament 3rd May 1979. In the summer of 1989 he became Foreign Secretary after Geoffrey Howe moved to become Leader of the House of Commons. When Margaret Thatcher stepped down in 1990, Major entered the contest himself and went on to beat Michael Heseltine and Douglas Hurd. In 1997 John Major resigned as Leader.
